Snowboarder Jason "JRob" Robinson drops into a fluted spine wall

Doors Off Over Three Amigos—Part Two

In the prior post, we shared an iPhone photo captured by Manuel Diaz of filmmaker Justin Hostynek and photographer Oli Gagnon as they sat at the edge of the helicopter’s open doors.

In this shot, we now share with you the perspective of Hostynek and Gagnon at that exact same moment. Again, to looker’s left of the cornice, the on-snow rider Jason Robinson begins his descent of Three Amigos

The only things keeping Hostynek and Gagnon from falling out of the helicopter are their harnesses and a bit of webbing. Without these slight safety measures they surely would have plummeted to their deaths when the pilot banked his turns. But as the saying goes, all’s well that ends well.

With the release of Eversince, 2015 turned out to be a banner year for Absinthe Films. J-Rob and Diaz nailed their lines. Hostynek and Gagnon got the shots. The pilot banked the heli like a pro. And everyone arrived home safely. Another season in the can. Onward and upwards.
