When people see the word “Haines,” they usually think of Alaska. However, there is another lesser-known but no less important Haines Pass in British Columbia, Canada. While the terrain might not be as steep, it is no less varied.

Here, the ever-omnivorous Travis Rice spins a frontside-720 over one of the most beautiful naturally occurring gaps we've ever seen. In 2001, Rice hit this exact spot while filming for the Absinthe feature, Transcendence, the film that introduced his exceptional snowboarding to the world. Unfortunately, on that trip there was no still photographer.

So the following year, in 2002, while filming for Vivid, Travis Rice and Absinthe filmmaker Justin Hostynek made sure to return to photograph this phenomenal terrain feature. One for the record books.
