St. Moritz is a fabled destination resort. It is beloved by athletes, royals, and snow bums alike. For good reason. In our humble opinion, however, the masses can have St. Moritz. Located just a hop, skip, and a dump next door, you’ll find Corvatsch. Far less known, but no less magnificent, we’ll take this piste over St. Moritz any day of the week.
The snow fields are wide and undulating with enormous terrain features. Windlips, gullies, and cliff bands abound. On even the deepest powder days the chairlifts are nearly empty and everyone is in a good mood. No paparazzi. No traffic jams in the parking lot.
In this photo, captured in 2018 by David Vladyka while shooting for the Absinthe feature film Stay Tuned, you will find Nicolas Müller lofting his signature method up and over one of the many terrain features that make Corvatsch such a catch.
Says Absinthe Films cofounder, Justin Hostynek, “At Corvatsch, this natural hit is just one of many. Everywhere you look, there are incredible features to the right and left of the chairlifts. When you pair a rider of Müller’s caliber with a visionary filmer like Vladyka and the terrain of a place like Corvatsch, magic happens.”
